Thanks for your message, Debra. I'm so glad this was helpful! I actually ended up doing more with the brilliant metals. My home is going to be on a home tour on April 4th and the paint in the master bedroom really needed to change before the event. One wall was was a rusty brick color and the others a mustard color, both were really flat with no depth.

The whole room needed to be freshened up but the thought of going over all that dark color with Kilz or a similar product and then painting it just wore me out. So I took the two cans of colors for the existing walls in to Lowe's and discussed my options with one of the gals in the paint department who took the classes to be 'certified' in this type of paint (and others) as to how to use it, what base to put under it and application. She found the two brilliant metals that would best compliment what was already on the walls and by adding the metal paint over it, it really added more depth while lightening it up.

So, the entire room is finally done and what a a vast improvement! The walls really pop with the color and while I was concerned that it would be too much it actually warms up the room and gives it a bit of a glow.

If you do before and after pictures don't be shy, share them with me! I'dlove to see the results and hope you are as pleased with the final look as I am!

All the best,

Jill

This turned out beautifully. I am going to try this on one accent wall behind the headboard in my master bedroom. Your "hints" on the metallic paint application are greatly aggreciated.

Hi-

Just in case- you might want to know that SYNLawn syntehtic grass products do not contain black rubber crumbsmaqde from tires or black backing-0 and therefore greatly reduce the heat and do away with the heat that eminates form those types of football field grasses- most of what people see in Arizaona that is not SYNLawn is that-

SYNLawn is cool enough to be around the entire WYNN Hotel in las Vegas for example- 6 acres of it- you ust where flip flops on it on your yard- but you won't feel the heat like you do on the rubber crumb products-

As far as cost goes- you can value engineer any project to fit a budget- but over time, that SYNAugustine will cost you far more and not look and perfrom nearly as well.

As far as odor goes- you need to install in correctly and include good drainage- there are new products can include to control odor effectively - and that combined with cleaing will solve that problem.

As the largest manfufacturer in the country of synthetic landscape grass- SYNLawn has a lot to offer in the way of solutions and sound advice- visit us at www.synlawn.com or check out one of the SYNLawn locations in AZ or at a Lowe's near you in AZ.

Best of luck!

Congratulations to Billie LeVine who was the first to answer the Tukee Trivia question correctly! The 12,000 square foot 'house of dreams' was constructed in 1921 by Dr. and Mrs. Ames.

Because Billie was the first to answer correctly, she won a $25 gift certificate to Florencia!

We'll occasionally play Tukee Trivia on the Tukee Talk blog site. If you want to receive emails notifiying you when we play, let me know and I'll add you to the email list.

Thanks to everyone who attended the Tukee Home Tour ~ it was a great first-time event. As a committee we're already working on how to improve the Tour for 2009.

If you have feedback to share on what you liked and ideas on how you suggest we improve it, please feel free to share those suggestions with me. As a committee member I will be certain to include your feedback which we will all review for next year's event.

Hi Mary,

The single plant in the tall stand is commonly known as a Pothos, or more correctly Epipremnum aureum. It's known for its yellow-marbled heart-shaped leaves, like the one you see in the blog photo. It's probably the #1 indoor plant in North America or at least on the Top 10 "Best Houseplants" list, if there is such a list.

Pothos also goes by a couple of other names – devil’s ivy & pothos ivy. The most common variety “Golden Pothos” gets the most use indoors. You'll find this plant in most homes as well as offices and other indoor spaces. Two other varieties are “marble queen” with a streaky white on green coloration and “jade” which is solid green.

It's the heartiest plant I've ever owned and does well with filtered or indirect light. They are very forgiving if you have anything less than a green thumb. They can also be used as a ground cover, planted in hanging baskets, or as a desk accent. It can tolerate lower humidity and cooler temperatures. No doubt its tolerance for a variety of conditions is why it's so popular.

You should be able to transplant it to your larger pot with no problem. Just keep in mind, Pothos does not like wet feet and the soil should not stay too moist so make sure the pot can drain well. Every so often a Pothos could use a good pruning – but prune selectively. This will also promote new growth.

Let me know if you have other questions and thanks for writing!
